Thanksgiving started when an explorer named, Martin Frobisher was trying to find a passage to get to Orient. In 1578, he held a ceremony in Newfoundland, and that was condsidered the first Thanksgiving. The reason that he held the ceremony was because he wanted to give thanks for his safe journey to Canada. My family celebrates Thanksgiving with a turkey dinner, we always have turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, and a lot of other good food.
Our family grows our own turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas, this year our turkies were twenty-five pounds, which gave us a lot of extra. After Thanksgiving our family tradition is to use all the leftover turkey, gravy and stuffing; we toast some bread and put it all on top, and it tastes really good. We always give thanks for all the things that we have, things like family, friends, a home, and food. I believe that Thanksgiving is a great holiday, because it's good to give thanks for everything that we have.
