Manafest VS Eminem

Many teens like rap these days, and I sort of do too, but not the kind of rap that most people like with all the swearing and inappropriate subjects. Manafest is a Canadian rapper who cares about the world and tries to make a difference in the lives of teens. Now, some people may not like the Christian aspect of his music but the themes of his songs are great. Most of Manafest’s songs are about Chris’s life (the main singer), and how his dad died when he was very young and how his life is so different now that he has Jesus in his life.

People may think that he sounds a lot like Eminem and that is true, but he certainly doesn’t sing about the same things. Some lyrics from the song, “So Beautiful” by Manafest are, “When I'm out of line, you’re always by my side. And when I fall behind, you pick me up. When I try to climb, feel like I'm losing my mind. You I can always find, you’re beautiful.” If you like listening to Eminem or any other rapper, you should try listening to Manafest. Not only is his voice really amazing, but you don't have to worry about who is around when you listen to the music, because it's 100% clean.

Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi is a very old harvest festival for Sikhs and Hindus. It celebrates the beginning of a new solar year and harvest season. This holiday can be celebrated anywhere, and it was first celebrated in India. It is celebrated with lots of parades and food, and they are supposed to wear bright colours, because it is a happy time.

I personally don’t celebrate this holiday, but it seems interesting and would be fun to watch the parades and eat the good foods.

All About St. Patrick's Day

Saint Patrick is a saint from Ireland, he was born in Britain. Saint Patrick’s Day became a public holiday in 1903. The History News Network says, “Is it a celebration of nationality, an opportunity to convince tourists to brave the March weather, or something that the Irish feel that they should celebrate as it's "their" day”. The Irish celebrate this day with parades and wearing a lot of green. If you aren't wearing any green then you get pinched, but there are different reasons why the pinching began. Some people say that wearing green made you invisible to the Leprichons and if they could see you they would pinch you. The Chicago river is dyed green every year on St. Patrick’s Day.
St. Patrick's Day - in my opinion - is a fun day to wear green. Although this holiday has nothing to do with my culture or beliefs, it doesn't have to be a part of your culture to be able to celebrate it.

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday; it was first celebrated by the Catholics. On Mardi Gras people eat as much food as they want, watch parades and have parties. The day after is called Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. Lent is when the Catholic people fast on food for forty days. Nowadays, people only give up one thing for 40 days. Mardi Gras can be celebrated anywhere in the world, because there are Catholics all around the world.
My personal thought on Mardi Gras is that it is a sort of weird holiday, but for some cultures it is mandatory, and makes sense. I still don't understand why they would fast for forty days. Going to the parades and eating a lot of food, would be fun, and Easter would also be fun because you can eat again.

Man Murdered in Calgary

Keni Su'a was eating alone in a restaurant in Calgary, on New Years Day, when three people sitting at another table beside him were shot by 2 men with guns. As he was fleeing the restaurant, another gunman was coming and he was shot down. Keni Su'a died that day, all because of the restaurant that he chose to eat at. The three people that were sitting at the table in the restaurant were former gang members, as well as the three gunman. The man's family is confused about how senseless this was and of course they are all distraught.
My opinion on this event is that: no one should join a gang especially if eventually you are going to leave it. When you leave a gang that is the time when all the members will turn on you and things like this happen, and innocent people get killed.
